June: Album of the Month

My album of the month for June is 'Drones' by Muse. Muse have been one of my favourite bands for a few years now, but my love was starting to fade recently.

After being assigned to learn their version of 'Feeling Good' for my vocal lessons, I have become invested in them once again, and therefore rediscovered the masterpiece that is 'Drones'!

Every song on this album is a delight; my favourites, however, have to be 'Psycho', 'Reapers', and 'Mercy' (which is dubbed as 'Starlight Part 2' and quite rightly!). Seven Muse albums are simply not enough for me - I need more of Matt Bellamy's heavenly falsetto!!

Feel free to comment below your top music picks at the moment as I would love to discover some new music this month.

May: Album of the Month

In all honesty, I haven't had time to listen to a whole lot of new music this month due to my time being dominated by exams and revision. However, I did stumble across this band in the comments of a YouTube video a week or two ago...

And so my May album of the month is 'Thrill of the Arts' by Vulfpeck. I cannot even explain how good this album is; it is weird but it is wonderful. Funk is a genre I never thought I would be properly invested in, but this has changed everything!

The lyrics may be odd, but the accompaniment and vocals (particularly from guest singer Antwaun Stanley) are so incredibly smooth. That is the only way I can describe this band - smooth. And I simply love it.

Let me know in the comments what you've been listening to, along with any recommendations for new music now I have the time to explore! I hope you've had a great month ☺

April: Album of the Month

My album of the month for April is 'Not To Disappear' by Daughter. I have been listening to this album a lot recently; I posted a full length review not long ago, and you can check that out here!

April has not been a very exploratory month for me in terms of new music, so if you have any suggestions on what I should listen to, do not hesitate to let me know!

March: Album of the Month

My album of the month for March is James Bay's 'Chaos and the Calm'!

I've never properly listened to James Bay before this month, and only heard 'Hold Back the River' and 'Let It Go' on the radio/charts. However, after hearing his latest single 'Best Fake Smile' I knew it was time to properly check out his album and I absolutely love it!

Bay's vocals are utterly divine and I love every single song on this album; it is easy to see what all the fuss is about!

I hope you've had a great month and let me know what your favourite albums and artists have been lately! ☺

February: Album of the Month

My album of the month of February has to be 'An Awesome Wave' by alt-J. This album is a few years old now, but it is only recently that I had exposure to the band due to the soundtrack of the game 'Life is Strange' - and why was I not introduced before?!

Singer Joe Newman has an incredible distinct voice which uniquely delivers the eccentric lyrics, and every single track is a complete pleasure to listen to. It's different, it's modern, and it's effortlessly adolescent.

I hope you've had a great February and let me know of any albums you've been loving and would recommend! ☺

January: Album of the Month

My album of the month is Troye Sivan's 'Blue Neighbourhood'! This album has pretty much been the soundtrack to my January, AND December, keeping me focused through essays and pre-occupied on car journeys.

I just uploaded a full, in-depth review on 'Blue Neighbourhood', which you can check out here.

I hope you've all had a great month and let me know what's been your January soundtrack in the comments below ☺
